The other day, someone sent me an e-mail, one of those e-mails that go viral, and it had a cartoon in it that stated something to the effect that; "God only requires 10%, how come my taxes are so high?" That is interesting isn't it, and although it was just a cartoon and it makes you laugh, and then probably makes you cry when you consider all the taxes you pay and all the government wastes - it is worth discussing here for a few moments if you have the time.
You see, it used to be the community supported each other, along with the families who supported their own. The 10% given to the church was used to help with various things in the community, and typically that's all the church needed to help people help themselves. However, along comes government, and all of a sudden they are demanding more than 10% in taxes to do basically the same thing as the church and other groups had been doing throughout history in civilizations and societies throughout the world.
Now then, in walks "crony capitalism" supported by the "powers that be" and those political officials that hold high office and deal with the affairs of the state. Have you ever considered how much taxes people pay in Europe? And how exactly are things going over there for them? Not too well would be an understatement obviously considering that the EU, euro zone, and Euro is about ready to collapse, financially implode, or break apart leaving the most socialist economies and nations to fend for themselves.
Raising people's taxes, and giving more money to an inefficient government that clearly wastes the money on programs that are not needed, and haven't been needed throughout human history seems rather silly. If the state is to supplant the church, and other nonprofit groups in the community, and take care of all those community affairs for us, then why does it needs so much money? The reality is that it doesn't, but since it has the power to tax, it convinces the people that taxes must be raised.
Anyone who buys into this logic is generally someone who doesn't pay very much in taxes, but is able to get lots of government services, or least they've been promised, and persuaded to believe such by podium pushing politicians which purport this preposterous promise. Maybe it's time that everyone's taxes were lowered to 10%, and folks could keep the money that they make, and use it to support themselves. It seems that the churches had it right, we need to teach people had a fish, not continually give them more fishes, and put sushi masters on pedestals.
